Flowering tea

Flowering tea (or blooming tea) is a bundle of dried green or black tea leaves wrapped around one or more eatable dried flowers. These leaves stay together like a small ball with a cotton thread. When steeped in hot water the leaves slowly unfold and the flower(s) inside emerge(s) like blooming flowers. The dried flower in the middle is usually marigold, jasmine, day lily, roselle (hibiscus) and osmanthus.
Flowering tea is not very popular yet in the Netherlands but in China and England it is well-known and often used for real high tea ceremonies.  The province of Yunnan is one of the eastern provinces in China where flowering tea is made and then exported to Europe and America. China has been doing this for more than 30 years.
